This year has certainly brought many new challenges and changes for everyone, but today we’re happy to share some VERY good news. Finally, something has gone according to plan – for the most part!
Our construction team has officially completed and turned over Phase Two of our critical, five-phase Unleash the Dream facility renovations. Our eager team started moving in right away. Who said you can’t tell when people are smiling behind their masks?
The Phase Two expansion and renovation includes a climate-controlled garage that will double as a temporary, emergency housing area for large humane investigations seizures or other emergency response, an animal housing area for species other than dogs and cats, two species-specific foster rooms, proper workspace for our humane investigations team, and a new, state-of-the-art veterinary clinic.
The clinic features two spacious surgery suites with three surgery tables each, a medical treatment area, an X-ray suite, a dental suite with a dental X-ray unit, cat and dog surgery recovery areas, cages for animals who require close monitoring, and exam rooms where we can provide care for community animals through our project CARE program—giving income-qualified pet owners in Cleveland access to affordable, high-quality veterinary care in a welcoming environment.
It’s important to note, however, that due to ongoing construction that will restrict public access for the next several months, our new, expanded veterinary services for pets and their owners will not fully open to new clients until early 2022. In the meantime, our team is using the state-of-the-art space to provide top-notch care for existing project CARE clients, animals who have come in through humane investigations, and animals who have come to us to find new homes.
As excited and grateful as we are to be in this new space, we still have three phases of construction left to go and approximately three million dollars left to raise to cover the $13.5-million cost of the entire project. We know the cutting-edge transformation of our animal shelter into an animal resource center for our community will make a critical difference for animals, but we still need your help to complete this very important project!
